My last blog was actually pretty serious. I know it may not have seemed so but it was. I use to be and still am on occasion one of those writers that looked and looked for that secret formula that would get my story published.
I use to read blog after blog after blog of NY Times best selling authors all the time. I follow my favorites on twitter and constantly searched for the secret. What I found in my vast searches was the answer. It wasn’t the answer I wanted either. But later on it made so much sense. It was so simple and yet so complex.
Just write.
That’s it. Just write your story. Write it for you. Not anyone else. Not to get published. Not to make millions. Not to get famous. Write it because you are a writer.
I’ve made friends with some published authors and I always just want to say “How did you do it?” thinking that just because being their friend will get me published. But it won’t.
I will admit that this site called Advice To Writers does have some great tips from authors and you should read it. I also listen to a pod cast (I listen to it as a pod cast at least) on blog talk radio called Writing Without The Drama. She has some of the best advice that I’ve ever heard. But I also have a great friend who is an editor and she is my go to person for all of my questions I have about writing. Her first novel will be published soon by Night Publishing entitled The Abandoned edge of Avalon. I actually designed the book cover for it.
So there you have it. Stop reading this and go write your book!
